Loaves, Beds, Plants and Osiris: Considerations about the emergence

Much debate continues regarding when and how the cult of Osiris was introduced to the daily life of the inhabitants of pharaonic Egypt. The emergence of the cult is dated in most instances to the end of the 5th dynasty, the period in which the name Osiris appears in writing. It is commonly held that before this period, not a trace of the cult can be discerned.
